@vibratingstring Glad you're commenting on the sound! Timbre was the most important attribute of the charango I wanted to retain. So keeping the dimension of body as close to the original as possible was crucial. This charango sports a flat back and was built for me in Peru. Right now I'm experimenting with a tuning of 1 whole step below a normal charango plus a high octave note 'g' doubled up with a lower octave on the last string.

It seems to be more in the Argentinian Ronrocco range in pitch, but it retains the timber of the smaller charango.
It looks flat-backed like a chillador. Did you have it made in Peru, or somewhere else?
