*Part 6 of 9*

On March 30, 2010, Hemant Mehta (best known as "The Friendly Atheist" or "The eBay Atheist") paid a visit to the Secular Student Alliance at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.

Mehta spoke about his religious upbringing, the aftermath of his infamous "I Sold My Soul on eBay" auction, and his ongoing involvement with atheist and freethinking causes.

I captured the talk on my cell phone (which explains the sketchy and incomplete video) and a digital voice recorder (which explains the audio).

Hemant's blog can be found at http://friendlyatheist.com/ .

  • Quote: "Why would people want to have atheists in governments or atheist leaders. Don't you know anything about history the last 100 years. My family comes from communist Eastern Europe and have seen how much destruction atheism has caused. The most destruction, genocide and death of over 100 million people world wide in the last century was due to atheist ideology based governments and atheist leaders, like Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, pol pot, Kim Jong-il. We dont need any more of these people."
