Invited in 2011 by Dean Ethan Stiefel to choreograph for the students of University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Eric Oberdorff has created "Holden C." inspired by their youth, their daily struggles, their emotions and energy.
"Holden C." is one piece of a larger cycle of new works Eric has been creating with pre-professionals, connecting each cast to an iconic figure that reflects their cultural environment. "Holden C." is named for Holden Caulfield, the central character of J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye", as Eric views Caulfield as a metaphor and symbol for American youth. "Holden C." marks Eric's first creation in the United States.
This was so beautiful and breath taking. Every dancer in this is amazing and have so much grace. This is one of the best dances ive seen and hope to one day dance or coreograph something this spectacular!
