The 82nd Airborne Division has had its share of famous soldiers from Sergeant Alvin C. York to General James M. Gavin. But that's not what the 82nd is really about. The real story of the 82nd is the thousands of unnamed paratroopers in jump boots, baggy pants and maroon berets, who have always been ready and willing to jump into danger and then drive on until the mission was accomplished.

  • Yeah, the airborne soliders in ww2 were one of the best soliders in the wole war! The airborne soliders were trained 2 years before they were drooped into Normandy 6 june 1944.

    They lose 1003KIA 2657wounded an 4490missing in normady. But 21300germans died against airborne units!

  • Thanks. I had a relative in the unit. He served in the Phillipines too, I think and was with the 503rd. I think that the Band of Brothers Divison and Major Winters is much more famous though.
