The treatment meted out to American prisoners in Hoa Lo was beyond barbaric, quite unlike the official Vietnamese version. However, it was no worse than what the French had meted out to Vietnamese in the same prison. Just another example of man's infinite capacity for committing atrocities against his own kind.
