One on the prettiest girls in my school was single. People tried to set her up, but she said, "No, I need a secure guy." But the dirty secret was that she came across as real insecure and wanted a guy to compensate for it, evidently. The next week, I saw her walk by with a price tag still on her shirt. I chuckled to myself, but didn't want to point it out and embarrass her. BTW, a big problem people have is being blank and looking for stimuli from each other, not initiating. So both stay bored.
