Patience IS important. It's tough for kids to be disciplined because doing things wrong (overarching the back, wrists at 90 degrees) at that age generally tend to result in being able to lift heavier weights with fewer negative results because they naturally bounce back easily. If a person can put his ego aside and accept the fact that start from ground zero to rebuild how he lifts means starting with often considerably less weight, he's better off in the long run.
