Gran Turismo 5 - Mercedes SL600 - 309mph SSR7 Run

300mph seemed like an easy target for previous episodes of Gran Turismo because the cars had dramatically more power, and also in some cases Nitrous.
But in GT5, there's no NOS and an average power loss across the entire range of around 50bhp, and even more in some cases. The Toyota Supra RZ now only has 725bhp, where previously it could have over 800bhp. Anyway, I digress,,,

This is a run in a draft racing room of my 1025bhp Mercedes Benz SL600 (R230). With which I managed a drafted top speed of 309mph.

I use the same gearbox setup method for the SL65 and get 267mph without draft, and similar drafted speeds too.

It really is that simple. Because of the torque range you should be shifting gear at around 7000rpm to get the best from it. The suspension isn't too important to the top speed, although it does affect the rate at which it gets there. With this setup I get 270mph without drafting on Route X, and with tweaks to the 5th gear for draft racing there, I have had over 340mph from it.

The settings for this car are fairly simple, as it's mostly about getting he gearbox right. The way I have I set right now is as follows:

1. Reset the transmission to default.

2. Move the top speed slider all the way to the right.

3. Move the final drive slider all the way to the left.

4. Move 5th gear's ratio all the way to the right.

@smuttysy Tried the settings and got 253 mph, better but I read it can go 263 mph without drafting, are there aerodynamics or any other changes you can make, Did the same to TVR Speed 12 max out at 220

@dannyygouldingg - Like I said previously, I get 270mph without drafting. First off, make sure you're getting the full 1025bhp output. I don't use the wing, as it only adds drag and slows the car. My full tune for it is actually on gtplanet. The speed 12 requires slightly different tuning, as it's definitely capable of much more than that. @djrickyslate - Rather an easy one, once you've got a fair amount of game days accumulated. They'll pop up in the used car database from time to time, but have also featured in the 0-miles online car database. It won't make any friends during corners, but you'll become the stuff of envy on the straights.

(Little update, drafting on Route X I've had this over 350mph!)
