"If she can make it, we can make it" says one young woman referring to her American flag.

The video show a truly phenomenal display of American pride -- the video showing only a sampling of the hundreds of flags flown just days after the flooding.

Iowa is a place where old time values still exist. It's a friendly yet unassuming place with a great quality of life. It's a place where people still say hello to each other. It truly is within America's heartland. Iowans immediately went straight to work to recover their own lives. They need America's help. When faced with the devastation, the residents who lost everything and face a bleak future turned to their American pride by displaying their American flags - no matter how battered and bruised they may be.

THEY TURNED TO YOU AMERICA! NOW - THEY NEED YOU, AMERICA! Please donate today.

We need to raise tens of millions to the effort as this disaster has a truly massive affect on our people.

  • I think its amazing that this video was made. It shows the support for our country and where OUR beliefs are. I THANK whoever made this video as one of the MANY who lost everything, I lost my house, my job and all personal belongings. But I thank GOD that I have my life, freedom and my family.

  • @thepure879 we are in war to stay free. dumbass

  • u would say that cause u aint got no videos, people are people and its hard to be homless and to know everything u own is gone is not a good feeling, theres so much that can't be replaced. unless youve been through it then u can't talk shit. i would say i hope u and ur family loses everything u own, but i know how it feels and i dont think even u are worth that pain.

  • IT IS REALLY MOVEING.

  • usa are in war so i dont thing they are free

  • Sorry for not conveying the magnitude of this flood.

I heard one official that during the peak flow, the Cedar River had enough volume of water that the Mississippi river would have at FLOOD STAGE in Davenport, Iowa. That is a mammoth flood - where it reached nearly 31 feet when the previous RECORD stage was 20.5 feet. That's 50% greater than the previous record. It was well beyond the official 500 year flood stage. I will research more data to let people know how large this flood was.

  • Almost 9,000 people are homeless and over a billion dollars in damage has been wrecked, with 20 percent of Iowa's crop (that the rest of the nation depends upon) is gone, and your concern is about the flags?

I have pride, and family in Cedar Rapids, and I am amazed at how quickly these warm-hearted and loving people have pulled themselves together. My 9 year old cousin gave her birthday present from her parents as a donation to the Red Cross.

Please be more considerate of your comments.
