Niles Canyon Railway - 5.23.2009 - The Run-by

The Niles Canyon Railway features a restored 4-6-2 P8 oil-powered steam engine - SP 2472 and gives excursion trips during most major holidays. We shot this video as part of an experimental 'run-by' that the crew offered and the results were spectacular. I shot this video one-handed while holding back a curious toddler who wanted to run up to see the train closer...score one for Dad hands!

I was there this weekend with my wife and several other friends. Great time. Incidentally, that is a 4-6-2 P8 rather than a 4-6-4. Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind to see an operating 4-6-4.
