  • How long did you work on the film. Is that all an animator is expect to produce during an animated film? I thought It would be lots more.

  • @Buddyb309 Yeah. Its all relative. Some guys are faster than others. But most of the character animators got about 1:30 to 2:30 of footage from the film. Less for leads because they have to divide their time up more.

  • Over how long of a period? I'm trying to find out what is the expected output of a animator in the industry.

  • @Buddyb309 I animated on the show from September to May. So...11 months.

Every studio is different and your output is typically measure in feet. So 1 foot of film = 16 frames. On average you'll do between 4 - 7 feet of film per week. That varies of course, because some scenes have 1 character and other scenes have 500 characters in them.

  • Great reel man! My friend Jacob (Patrick) told me you recently got into Disney. Congrats on the new gig, it's well deserved.

  • Yeah. I'm wrapping up Alice in Wonderland at Sony right now and I start at Disney Jan 4th. Thanks for the kind words. Say hi to Jacob for me!

  • I've seen a few of these vids. how come some scenes are split from one artist to another even if it's the same scene?

  • Excellent - loved it. I would be honoured if you would consider an interview for the Video20Q podcast to talk about your work

  • Congrat's!
