Why does rick santorum want to spend our tax payer money to protect an industry that already profits billions of dollars per year?. If i opened a convenience store and had a problem with shoplifters do you think the federal government should Buy my security Cameras?. Should they pay for my armed guards at the door? or perhaps a TSA style full body screen? NO, it is my store and my problem. So why are tax payers going to foot the bill to increase profits for billion dollar industries...

See my post above. There is no sovereignty involved in copyright. It is a *privilege*, not a right. We the people grant that privilege to authors/artists. The consensus on the Internet is that the privilege is too broad. I'd like to see it hold up to a popular vote.

Make copyright a significant political issue! Throw the media minions out!

And violating copyright is *not* piracy; *nothing* is stolen or damaged. Theoretical funds might theoretically be diverted; that is not theft. Widespread violation of copyright indicates that copyright is too broad and should be trimmed back.
