Steve Jobs Speaks About Death

Whilst I don't generally agree with Steve Jobs and strongly disagree with the whole Apple philosophy on the way they build & make computers as nothing more than a trendy status symbol for those with more money than sense.

This speech made by him at Stansford University in 2005 in which he speaks about death is one thing I do agree with him on 100%.

It's the same way I look at life and basically boils down too, you only get one shot at life and it's very short in terms of time, so live your life doing what you think is right for you and doing what makes you truly happy and not what you think will just please others just to be thought of as a nice guy.

Being in a similar situation as him with regard to death, I have to say even though I may not like or agree with what he's done as far as computers go I still hope he has the strength to fight what looks like a re-emergence of his cancer and hope he beats it once again.

With that being said I hope folks watch and listen carefully to this video clip as the words spoken in it will serve you well to remember and follow them through life and for once I actually agree with the man.

Steve Jobs was wise beyond his years. Your claim that they're products are either snobbish, trendy or status symbols is hackneyed. The branch of philosophy known as Axiology (translates to meaning of value) is separated into two areas: Ethics and Aesthetics. Aesthetic value tends to be much less ephemeral than software utility and is less volatile. Your "disagreement" with Steve tends to suggest you just can't afford an Apple product (I'm sorry about that) so you chew sour grapes about it all.

If you think "trendy" almost implies "soon to be outdated" then when it comes to Apple that is definitely true, at least once a year they bring out "the next model" making your last purchase outdated... ;-)

It's not Apple that make their products "Snobbish" or the price of their products (they aint that expensive), it's some of the pretentious twats that use them who somehow think they're "snobbish"... ;-)
