Following the release of the new 2012 3-Series sedan, BMW engineers are now hard at work developing the coupe and convertible variants. What's unclear is whether the new two-door versions will be renamed the "4-Series" to allow BMW to expand its lineup for a range of all-new models due in the coming years.
This video features a prototype for the 2013 BMW 4-Series Coupe due out later this year.

@AndrewParkerTV Exactly, the Audi A5 was the first thing that came to my mind. However I think that it's not a really good idea for a small-mid size car like the 3-Series.

@bloximonkey The reason is because, Audi replaced the A4 convertible with the A5 coupe & convertible to make it more unique. Adds a touch of prestige they say, BMW are to do it with the new 3-series coupe and convertible replacement.

I guess that this is the new 3 series coupe.

They wouldn't. A 3er is a 3er and I cannot imagine BMW coming up with something called the '4-Series'.
