@Gepduarsinful that's only partially true. check his website, everything is explained there, including some audio examples

I think the reason he is resting his chin on the fretboard is because of the extra strings. He doesn't want the to resonate over what he is playing at certain parts. All he is doing is dampening the strings.

This performance of Haydn is the best argument I have seen/heard for the advantages of an 8-string guitar over 6. Beautifully played.

He uses his chin to get the wider range of tones and that allows him to play notes he couldn't normally reach with his left hand fingers.
