  • Two Drummers?

    One is bad enough!

  • Etonnant.

  • It was Belgian saxophonist Fabrizio Cassol (incredible improviser and leader of Aka Moon)

  • Hey thanks so much jazzcobber! This has been the most helpful info I've received so far. Where did you find out these details?

  • every key is split in two halves.

top half: left horn / bottom half: right horn.

finger low F covering both halves of all keys. unison low F.

release bottom half of G key: Left horn low G / Right horn Low F. Maj 2nd interval (F1-G1)

there are two octave keys on the horn.

right octave key: right horn 8va. Dominant 7th interval (G1-F2)

left octave key: left horn 8va. Major 9th interval (F1-G2)

Imagine a genius like Rahsaan Roland Kirk on one of these!!!!!

    Francois is a genius!!!!!!!!!

  • i think the keys are split in two one half for each horn

  • I'm with you in wishing to know how it works and having no clue. Unfortunately I know Francois Louie is very protective of it because he doesn't want his idea knocked off, so I think the only people that really know are Lovano and Louie, and whoever did the solo piece for aulochrome and orchestra.

  • I've been following that aulochrome thing since it first came out, and I still can't figure out how it works! Does anyone know how the fingering mechanism is used compared to that of a regular sax? There is some strange diagram on the FL website, but it doesn't explain much about note choice on both horns. I'm curious about the potential of the horn, can you play a descending and ascending chromatic scale at the same time, or only limited intervals?

    Curious Saxophonist,

    Saxman11290

  • I love Joe, and this tune sounds cool, but when he says that the aulochrome is the instrument of the future, I laugh at the insanity of the statement.

  • nice
