  • I think true talent to be appreciated is this; not rap and sports players who get millions of dollars

  • ok just a little disclaimer before what i say is taken the wrong way. its not a bratty comment- im asking a legitimate question..so please..nobody jump down my throat for this...

im not familiar with this piece...at all..but ive of course heard of 6 mallets pieces and kieko abe being crazy with them..lol aside from the 6 note chords, is it really necessary to have 6 mallets to play the piece? im not going to play this piece with 4 or anything..i just wondered...

    anyways..good job:)

  • Playing with six mallets is sort of like NASCAR - all sorts of interesting things can and will happen but the end is right where you started. I toyed with 6 mallets for a while and finally came to realize that the music written for 4 mallets or even two is just more satisfying musically and aesthetically. Case in point - the music of Dean Gronemeier (I think he is a lawyer now) of UNLV. He wrote many pieces for six mallets but the only really good composition is Nature Alley for 4 mallets.

  • @AudreyAHHHH In addition to that statement, this particular piece seems to have counter points between the two hands and/or a lot of unparalleled melodic travel which on top of the "larger" chords is another reason for needing six mallets.

I've played with only 2 and 4 mallet techniques and pieces and in noticing some of the things the player has to do in this song, six mallets doesn't seem necessary but if the music says to play a six note chord than you have to use six mallets.

  • @Lorakeet91

It depends on the intervals of the notes and how quickly you need to get to them. And if you have enough time to drop or pick up a few mallets.

  • sounds like that one world in paper mario thousand year door the forest world! lolol

  • Damn sounds like Seiken Densetsu 3 music. I guess 6 mallet is where they got there inspiration. Great stuff.

  • I'll never get used to the shape of the resonators on these marimbas. Anyways, great job!

  • 6 MALLETS!!! thats crazy!! great vid!

  • dang.... Father Ryan..... that program produces the Gods among us...hopefully you're keeping it up in college. good work.

  • You can get it at Theodore Front for $21.50 USD, but it's not in stock now so you'll have to wait about a month before you get it.

  • I can play with six mallets as well and I was trying to find somewhere where i could get this piece (i want to do it for a tallent show as well...)
