@phoenix1985 It's odd that actual historical fact does not penetrate an argument where Christians who are against gay marriage point to passages in the Bible and purport their historical validity and, thus, the validity of their argument. Historical fact is so important to them yet all the evidence we have available do nothing but invalidate them.
But when it comes down to it, all I want to do is marry the person I love to show my devotion, which is as Christian as it gets imo.

@DanimalCollective My apologies. I assumed you were another one of those conservatve christian nutjobs. I dont really think only Pagans should make the decision, I simply use that as an arguement point with christians that marriage existed long before they did.

@alphaomegastables Well, 39 out of 39 states rejected gay marriage (which, your numbers are obviously off, but I wont make a further ass out of you) for the same reason 50 out of 50 states supported segregation or 1 out of 1 Germanys supported the Holocaust... because bigots like you exist, asshat.

@phoenix1985 Hmmm, I think you may have misinterpreted what I was trying to do. I was corroborating your argument. I'm gay as well, so obviously I agree with all your points and that marriage is a practice as old as humanity and takes on many forms and interpretations.
It is a funny point to say that Pagans created marriage and thus, should be the only one's to have a say in it. I like the idea that there is a group of Sumerians still out there we can reference for their opinion :P

@DanimalCollective You do realize that I'm not a Christian and dont care at all what the bible says. Its true that marriage for love is a relatively new concept. What I am pointing out is, since Pagans created marriage, shouldnt they get to be the ones who decide what marriage is or isnt?
-
@phoenix1985 You also forgot that marriage as it exists in the Bible isn't just one man and one woman... it's polygomous in some cases. God Himself even has more that one wife.
Also, marriage for love is a relatively new concept. Usually, marriage was meant as a marriage between families, rather than individuals, for economic purposes. Love was an after thought. The whole "marriage is a sacred institution" argument is invalid if you know anything about history.

@thekoondock1 Being gay isnt a psychological/medical disease/problem. You are right on that. Love is love, no matter the gender, race, or religion.
Parenting: you're doing it right.

@alphaomegastables Since the AMA, APA, and AAP all say being gay is NOT a choice and that GLBT people ARE born that way, I'll choose to believe their scientific studies over your right-wing nutjob theories which have no basis in science or facts. Face it, against the truth, you cannot win. So stop now before you make an even bigger fool of yourself.
