no, they actually take breaks, for Le mans it's almost 19 hours. What Speed does for hosting Le Mans 24 hours, is rotating commentators - typically it's Bob Varsha (head commentator), David Hobbs (head commentator - he's funny as hell if you listen to him - wonderful chap), Justin Bell, Bryan Till as pit reporters, and maybe some other guys - Radio Le Mans also joins in to give more coverage when the American Speedtv Team is taking their breaks.
