The Throbak Fuzz Haze is a fresh take on the Dallas Arbiter Germanium Fuzz Face pedal, conjuring up all the thick, dynamic fuzz tones of the original, but with a few extra features for today's guitarist. Internal bias and trim pots and socketed transistors allow for considerable customizing. On the outside of the Throbak Fuzz Haze there's a pre-gain switch for selecting between classic Fuzz Face mode and pre-gain, custom tweaked by you for a perfect match with your rig. Constructed with hand-selected germanium transistors and Mallory M-150 polyester Capacitors, among other fine components, the Throbak Fuzz Haze is made to last. http://proguitarshop.com/store/effects-fuzz-pedals-throbak-electronics-fuzz-p...

  • these kind of fuzz tones sound awesome by itself, but throw in a drum kit and a bass and vocals and all the clarity gets lost in the mix.

  • @gree17 - PGS and Jimi Hendrix disagree with this statement : )

  • nice work andy

does the pedal need to be at the beginning of the chain like the old fuzz germanium fuzz faces?

how does it go with wah's?

presumably before the wah in the chain too?

    cheers

  • @meateaterer - Germanium pedals can be finicky about what they see at the input, so yes, most likely it would want to be at the beginning of the chain. Friendliness with wah depends more on the wah than the fuzz. Experimentation is encouraged. Thanks for watching.

  • What amp was used for the recording? Thanks :)

  • @TurquoiseArmies A Fender DRRI

  • @omfg51 - Germanium is a chemical element (symbol Ge, atomic number 32) used widely in manufacturing transistors. Dmitri Mendeleev predicted it's existence in 1869, and it was discovered two decades later by Clemens Winkler and named in honor of his mother country, Germany. And now here it is in our fuzz pedals! Thanks for the question.

  • ive always prefered jimmy pages fuzz tone over jimi hendrix, dont get me wrong i love hendrix, but pages fuzz just melts my face

  • very pleasant sounding

  • Have one, love it!

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Hendrix had a bajillion 100W amps behind him and a crowd willing to get their heads blown up with the volume Jimi was shooting out.

  • Man this sounds like fun.

  • @huntermm8 It's "Third Stone from the Sun" by Jimi Hendrix. : )

  • the intro is beautiful

  • Andy, at 5.40 when you played the fuzz haze in 'hi-gain' with humbuckers, was the volume on the guitar full or did you have to roll it back to tame the bass?

  • Hey Andy, what guitar were you using in this video? Is it still the G&L?

  • @turniton512 i think this one really comes alive when you go into lead playing and open the volume knob all the way :) very responsive
