A short clip of American Revolutionary War Historian Dr. Robert Selig suggesting that a primary reason the French backed the American colonial revolution against England was for a "balance of power," hoping to weaken their rival and bring them back to European focus. His remarks came at an event held Nov. 10, 2009 at the Historical Society of Frankford in Northeast Philadelphia celebrating the designation of the Washington-Rochambeau National Historic Trail a National Historic Landmark.
