Just a video of some ugly trees with interlaced canopies. Not to mention one of the bifurcated (twin trunks) trees got hung up (second tree in from the right facing to the right). Had to get a bit creative to get them down but ended up OK. Made a hell of a noise and mess.
Saw is a modified Dolmar 7900 with 200psi compression, 32" bar, 7 pin rim, and Carlton A3-EP semi chisel non skip chain. I'd dropped the depth guages a bit far making the chain slightly "boggy". No big drama though.

  • Nice job Matt!

  • @MrRmh3481 Thanks mate.

  • Is this wearing one of your Chinese P&C's?

Also, ya must be high-stumping to have leverage to gig out the stumps?

  • @FRUNTCASTER No mate this saw is wearing a pretty heavily modified genuine 79cc Mahle top end.

I have been told to cut the stumps at whatever height I like so many of them are cut at about waist level to avoid bending too much. Sometimes on these trees I'm also cutting a bit higher to avoid another 1 foot in trunk diameter as the tree starts to flare out at ground level.

  • @00wyk No no no Weslet. I said it made a bit of a racket, as in noise. If it made a hatchet I'd have found it and posted it to you.

  • @00wyk Is that what an egg does? I don't need a hatchet, I have a CHAINSAW :D

  • @00wyk Are you saying I need to use a hatchet or you're threatening me with one? Heh heh. I can impart a lot more energy with a mini sledgehammer without risking a severed femoral artery. I don't need a hatchet, that's why I have a STihl 200T :) Now get back to drinking in Ireland.

  • Cool, it's always nice when you get to pick a stump hight that's as comfortable for the cutter as possible.
