CERN LHC: The moment of first circulating beam!

After about an hour of preparations and "tuning", the targets were removed from the path of "beam 1" of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and beam was injected. A few seconds later, the information gets back to the computer consoles to confirm that beam had circulated in the LHC for the first time. Gusty cheers follow!

Sad thing is, most school systems are so huge and sluggish, that many discoveries from the last two decades haven't made their way into the class room. Universities are a whole different story of course.

They don't know what they're actually part of and actually doing.
