In another stunning time-lapse sequence by astrophotographer Fraser Gunn we see a stargazing tour conducted by Earth & Sky on 2nd February 2011. The view is to the northwest with the dome of the 16-inch Meade LX200 telescope in the foreground. Under a typically stunning sky at the summit of Mt. John overlooking Lake Tekapo in New Zealand, knowledgeable astronomy guides use green laser pointers to identify objects in the southern sky while red lights preserve the dark adaption of guests. See satellites passing by and stars seemingly without number! The Pleiades (Matariki) star cluster sets behind the dome around 30 seconds, while the Orion Nebula enters the top of the frame at 36 seconds. Brightest star Sirius sits at the top of the image by the end of the movie with constellation Orion below.
