This is an outstanding example of the least expensive series at Buick. Invicta and Electra were the ultimate Buicks. Notwithstanding, this has every luxury you would want, including air conditioning. That mirror image speedometer is a class act...Buick really stood for luxury.

  • Albeit, this was the entry-level Buick, it was still by-no-means cheap ( compared to a Chevrolet or Pontiac of the time )! My grandfather's first Buick was a '65 Riviera GS, and it cost $5,850 new! Of course, that was with most if not all of the options they had at the time..

  • @Sarcasticscum Hey, Nathan! Indeed...one had to graduate to a Buick...next only to Cadillac in the GM heirarchy! And the Riviera was certainly a very special Buick!

    Thanks! :) Jack

  • I always liked the 61 Buicks. I have a model of a 2 door hardtop I bought when the 61 came out.

  • @monarch1957 Hey, Barry! They were sure show-stoppers...and still are today!

    Thanks! :) Jack

  • @IluvSixtiesPontiacs Hey, Dave! That's an interesting sidelight....I guess it shows that management was sensitive to consumer complaints at that time. As second only to Cadillac in the heirarchy at GM, I guess they were pretty sensitive to comparison! Now, methinks it's survival of the fittest regarding each individual brand...sell in numbers, or perish! Thanks! :) Jack

  • @raconter1 haha your lucky so cold in Kansas

  • @KyphosisKiel Hey, Kiel! No car was really cool without whitewalls at the time!

Funny how things change! Thanks! :) Jack

  • love the whitewalls.
