Some bulbs are early season, midseason and late season, did you check which one your astilbe is?
Also did you plant with bulb food and pete moss?

That was very nice, I've been working in my
garden, but I'm getting worried about some of
my bulbs... My hosta is growing, but the Astilbe
isn't... does anyone know how long they take???
