I have been running E85 in F-150 Pickup and it runs great. Most that I know who tries the E85 loves it. One cold mornings the exhaust even has a nice sweet alcohol smell.

true, Electric is the way, BUT, withe the increase of Wet Cell Batteries, that have a short life in comparison to the car itself, That's a lot of hazardous chemicals being disposed of. In short, America needs to walk or ride a bike instead of getting in a car, no wonder most of America is so fat.

Pumps are one thing, but the tanks, if they are current, by law Steel can no longer be used underground can be cleaned and used to hold E85. I have had two stations that sold Sunoco Purple leaded race fuel, and they were cleaned and now hold 7500 gallons of E85 each.

I can name many cars that require 91 or higher octane. And Mobil has banned the sale of E85 to a retailer in NY. Its not just CA.

Actualy the real obsticle to E85 in CA is CARB (California Air Resources Board) they are the ones enforcing the storage tanks and permits to sell E85 you have to pay over $200k for. Also 89 is blended at the pump from 91 and 87. there is no 3rd tank for it.

Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV's) offer the potential of the full flexibility of using some oil for backup range and flexibility.
But drive dominantly on electricity for nearly all your commuting needs.
Just a 50 mile electric range it would cut your trips to the gas station down to less than 5 a year.
There is not a single automobil that requires 89 octane fuel but nearly every station I have visited have had 87, 89, and 91 octane. Perhaps each pump may have to replace the internal and external hoses. The underground tanks will handle E-85 as well as gasoline that is E-10 in California The same deliver tanks can hold E-85 as anything.

That's exactly what we suggested to Chevron's CEO. But before any station can do that, Chevron has to agree to change their contracts which currently blocks those stations from selling anything out of those underground tanks but their three grades of fuel.
