For years sadly most of the media has betrayed us so terribly. Hardly ever showing the hard, honest working people of this county, never pointing out the gifts this area has too offer.

These videos are a personal biography through my eyes & what I see every day, the love for my family & the beauty of this county. All I ever wanted was for everyone to have a chance to see the Harlan County that we are proud of and that we love so much.

I'm truly sorry, but I don't know how long this video will be allowed to be played on youtube. It's so sad that many companies are beginning to force youtube to start blocking videos.
It's going to break my heart when they begin to block the videos of Harlan County.. all I wanted is for everyone to enjoy, to see all the beauty that Harlan County has to offer...
At least just for a short time I truly enjoyed making videos. I wanted so much to film more of Harlan County, I guess it's just not meant to be : (

Hi, I'm so happy I was able to redo these Watts Creek videos, hopefully for the better : ) They are a lot slower and hopefully better and I hope you will like them. I really didn't know to remove these older part 1 and 2, my family say they love them and wants them to stay : )

Hahahaha, Thank You. you are precious!!! but sad to say back in those days they had all those kids just to help with all the work around the house, especially gardening, things was really rough back then, we are so lucky today. especially with the sweet electrical joys we have to enjoy, lol

I miss my Kentucky family, sadly the town is gone and so is the homeplace, but I still have the memories of my people and i still get back 2 kentucky once n a while,it still feels like home .

What stood out to me is the physical condition of the older black & white pictures vs the newer color (modern) pictures. The old ones showed people lean, thin and healthy, as time progressed, they became fat, blubbery and some were obese (one guy appeared to have swallowed a watermellon). goes to show what "modern" food, alcoholism and a lazy lifestyle does. EAT UP AMERICA!!! Bologna/potted meat mmm, nom, nom, nom!!

@phoenixbirdlives thanks tammy for writing me. since im in this wheel chair now i appreciate all the mail i get especially from kentucky. my mother and all her family are from there. mom has gone home now and i sure do miss her but she is with my father and the lord so i cant complain. but she used to tell me stories of old kentucky that would bring a tear to my eye or a laugh. the main thing i remember the most is my uncles the martin family was really high tempered. lol write me and i will tel
