Can't decide which solution to go with. Here's a short summary of pros & cons with each for my situation.

  • I am very seriously looking at the Intel Reader. I am curious if the Reader would magnify things before capturing a snap shot - or if you have to take the shot before magnifying the subject material. This is important in terms of signing things, etc.

  • I will have to look at the manual again, not sure. I doubt it, though. I think what happens is the first press takes the picture, but doesn't process it. It just takes the picture for preview purposes. Again, I have yet to read the manual more extensively, but I will, and see what I can find.

  • The way I see it, you'd only be holding the Reader upright for the time it takes to take the shot of the material. Unless of course your using the stand.

The Amigo also has a tilting screen and it goes for about 1,700$. It's quite portable.

The writing stand isn't very portable, but you can hold the unit up a bit to facilitate writing something short. The camera is centered.

Battery life is 1.5 hours but you get 2 of them and a charger. The battery is standard so you can get more if you wish.
