In my imagination: In another life that takes place in a different place and time in the multiverse, the captain of this aircraft redeems himself by saving 500+ people when he manages to land Japan Airlines Flight 123 safely.

10k/year? I get more just by farting all day long.

@Super270389 Absolutely, but unfortunately the regional pilots are willing to fly for peanuts because either A. They love it (Silly Reason) or B. They feel that it will only be for a short time in the hopes that they will gain enough experience and upgrade to the wide body jets making 6 figure salaries and having 15 days on and 15 off. There are too many pilots out there and only so many wide body jets and only the best make it there (mostly military).

@rev4life03 I didn't know that, thanks! But you would think that their wages should reflect the importance and awesome responsibility that they carry.

@Super270389 The captain doesn't make that much. He probably made half that, if he was lucky. The First officer made 16K a year. The First officer flew across the U.S because she resides in Washington, this is a common practice known as commuting. Where the pilot jump-seats on any flight to their base.

there was a plane crash on the same day as colgan 3407
-
that happened in 2009 i didn't hear abut it

Damn terrorists.

Pilots are trained to handle this... but after the small amount of sleep they got its no wonder they couldn't handle it. Blame this on fatigue.

@tocsa120ls welcome to the world of contracted Airlines...its all true.
The first officer's salary is lower than an average bus driver? Wtf?

10k/yr? You must be joking. Anything under double that, i'm skeptical. I'm not a pilot but in my mind a job this demanding should be paid better.
