Temasek Junior College Symphonic Band performs Johan de Meij's Extreme Makeover- Metamorphosis on a theme of Tchaikovsky for the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging 2009

Under the baton of our resident conductor Mr Lin Ah Leck, the Temasek Junior College Symphonic Band (TJCSB), established in 1977, has dedicated itself for the past 32 years to achieving musical excellence. The band has consistently attained prestigious awards at various local and regional band competitions. Coming in 1st runner-up in the 5th Asian Band Competition held in Bangkok, achieving 11 consecutive Gold awards at the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging, including the elusive Gold with Honours in 2005. The band was also involved in an overseas exchange trip to Osaka, Japan in 2008 and also had a very successful concert on the 23rd of May.

  • @91504166 what isn't right about this interpretation? I am of the personal belief that interpretation is mostly up to the individual and that there is something to be treasured in each and every interpretation. I have to say though, that this recording is a bit underwhelming at times. But I like it. :)

  • i was a little disappointed with philyouth perf. i had high expectations. it would be much better if they could attempt easier pieces and sound great at the same time. running notes werent tight at all esp for extreme makeover. didnt have the wow impact. oh well. i have more to say, but i should say much. no offence to anyone! anw.. philyouth did a very commendable job for the concert given the difficulty of the pieces(:
