@MichaelIanHenry Second question: Whether you can have multiple sound cards depends on the sound card and the computer. For example, an M-Audio Delta 1010LT is the equivalent of having 5 sound cards (including S/PDIF.) Laptops can often use internal and external (USB) sound cards. Here's the payoff: Each sound card allows you to have a different mix-minus feed, so long as your mixer has enough aux or subgroup outputs.
If you need more info, just post here, and we'll try to help.

@MichaelIanHenry First question: How can you take multiple VOIP callers? When you say VOIP, are you referring to Skype, Google Voice, X-Lite (SIP), or something else? Skype enables you to do conference calls with other Skype users or with telephone callers, if you have a subscription. Google Voice, at this moment, does not work for multiple incoming callers. If you mean true VOIP, that's a function of the client software. All of these functions can exist on a single computer.

Just a big THANK YOU,
Growing up in Athens, GA (you are given a band at age 13) I always did mix/min with left/right from the AUX. After watching this video I honestly went *THATISWHATTHEfxKNOBISFOR!!?? and kudos on the Linux usage. We run a Ubuntu 10.10 for live A/V recording and Fedora Core 13 box for the video render.
Hello brother James...I love this video I learned alot sir! A question does come to mind, how do you or any other podcasters utilize multiple Voip callers on a single monitor while using multiple computers? I can't sem to get my head around this one.
Second question is if I added an extra sound card too each Xtra comp would I be doubling my call in lines? Again sir thank you so much for your help and expertice please these vid's coming!

@MichaelIanHenry
Michael, I'm not sure how much help I can be here. I've never tried to bring in more than two callers. One via Skype and one via Google Voice. You can bring in as many computers as you have "Aux line outs" on your mixer board.
I don't think a computer will recognize more than one sound card at a time.
It's not the sound cards that allow you to bring in extra audio. It is your mixer board. Focus on your mixer to accomplish what you need.

Sir, I would just like to say thanks, many thanks. The mix/minus was a proper issue while recording video Gtalk interviews. NOW I know what the FX dial does + how to feed that into the host audio. Granted our toolchain is %100 Linux and I opted for a 3.5mm/USB for the FX Send (Pulse audio issue) but this video provided the basics for the construction.

@linuxgamecast I'm glad to hear it helped you! Sounds fun with Linux! I'm running Ubuntu on a machine right now. I can't believe how well 11.04 runs.
Let me know if you have any other podcasting questions. I'm always glad to help!

So glad you made this video. I've been trying to explain to a friend that FX Send/Aux Send is the same thing. They kept complaining to me that they needed a more meaty mixer to be able to perform a mix minus setup for skype... They wouldn't let me touch the mixer but now I have video proof :p
Its just a shame my 502 doesn't have an FX send. The only thing that would make the mixer any better would be another FX/Aux Send :D

@Sk4zZi0uS Hey, I'm glad I could settle an argument for you!
The FX send on this mixer isn't stereo so I had to get a 1/4 mono to 1/8 stereo cable.
Thanks for viewing and commenting!
