From the R.S. MacDonald collection (awesome tunes--everyone go pick that book up!!)

Mostly sight-reading this one, so forgive the bobbles. I'll try to get a better video next time: hard to keep the ipod sitting straight in the kitchen (which, by the way is the best place to play smallpipes--hands down!), so I had it cradled in the knife rack, which proved itself to be too tall for this purpose: I'll get my hands in the picture next go-round!

  • Nice one! good rich tone on those pipes.

  • @teucher46 Thanks, the pipes are made by EJ Jones: amazing craftsmanship, and all-around good guy!

  • Thanks muchly. :)

  • In this video I'm playing scottish smallpipes in the key of C made by EJ Jones. I also play the highland pipes and mandolin.

The book can probably be found from most bagpipe supply merchants, but I got it as a prize from the National Piping Centre at one of their USA summer schools. They have it in their shop on their website.
