President Rajapakse has vowed to honestly discharge the high responsibilities assumed as SAARC Chairman. He said the summit enabled to further strengthen regional ties with the world. On Demand Video 7'O clock Full News 7'O clock Headlines The President was speaking while concluding the 15th Colombo Summit today. Everyone could be satisfied with the productive and successful results of the Summit. They affirmed their resolve to make South Asia once again a major granary of the world through a series of specific regional collaborative projects. An extraordinary regional meeting of Agriculture Ministers will be convened soon. The President opined that they had directed that the SAARC Food Bank be immediately operationalised to store stocks for distribution in case of particular scarcity in the region. There was clear recognition that terrorism has become a scourge throughout the world including the region. He said South Asia cannot progress unless there is stability and security throughout the region. It is in recognition of this reality that they ensured the signature of the convention of mutual legal assistance in criminal matters. He said it had been an honour for the Government and people of Sri Lanka to have received the leaders in the island. He wished them a pleasant return back and continued success in the service of their peoples.
