I find it quite amusing how some people seem to be personally offended by this vid. As if they're defending Dalí for some reason Envious?

Why not just let this guy copy the painting and be proud of it? He clearly has some talent even tho it's not a perfect copy (at least not of Dalí's style).

Dalí did copy others himself; for example The Lacemaker by Vermeer.

@Dalbrix I've never heard of those quotes before. lol I love the response for "Is it HARD to love Dali?" haha it's soft. right. I don't see what can be offensive about this video. I think the way the subtitles are added inaccurately for his speech (found in an interview, which I just listened to earlier). I think they add a hilarity to his speech, it's what makes Dali such a fascinating artist to learn about. I think the painter did a terrific job duplicating Dali's style. No need to be jealous.

Who cares if you can copy a painting? What are YOUR WORKS ABOUT? Any yayhoo can apply themselves to the craft of painting and make reasonable facimilies. New York alone is home to several thousand such workers.

you do realise that Dali himself gained much of his exposure from using Dadaist notions of a complete disregard of reason and going against the Modernist idea of art being a perfect commodity, and the artist being put on a huge pedestal?

So get off your fucking high horse, do your fucking research and stop attempting to defend something which doesn't need defending.

The dude's just painting, and doing a damn good job of it. With attitudes like your's, it's hardly encouraging, is it?
