dillinger four were an influential band, it's not surprising green day ripped this riff yet some of you seem to think it's just some random coincidence of some random band, and people aruging american idiot is better? i can't change your opinion but come on.. really?! but midwestern songs of the americas is a piece of punk rock history. Okay, ONE part sounds like what Green Day did on "American Idiot". Big deal. Everything is derived from something else, people. Hell, Black Sabbath's first 2 albums could've easily have been blues albums if you go strictly by chord progressions. There's only so many ways you can pick notes and finger chords on your fretboard. Get over it now, PLEASE! It was released 7 years ago, for fuck's sake. Then again, people still bitch about Metallica's "St. Anger" (don't start on THAT now).

There's only so many power chords... You're bound to run into something similar someday. Do the lyrics have the same melody, not really. Same vocal register, nope. Are the drums the same. Not a chance. Both songs are great. They aren't sell outs. Stop whining.

well thank you sir that means alot coming from someone who actually knows what there talking about, as proven by your statements below, and while were on the subject, what the hell happened to Hopeless Records? not to sound like a whiny punk kid or anything but they released this quintessential piece in modern punk, and now they have All Time Low!?
