  • Well done Hong Kong! How I wish the Singapore government could have done the same earlier for many of our already demolished heritage and historic buildings.

  • hi ronin35, it is a very exceptional case. the fact is that demolishing the only policy for hk government to carry out.. i can't name it all.. i feel shamed being a hong kong people...

  • It's a shame and downright tragedy that HK government would not preserve STAR ferry as a historic relic like they did for this building.

  • builiding?

  • I am going back to HK for vacation. I will go to Chak Chu ( Stanley) to see this building. It is good to visit historical properties (even though it was moved to a new location).

  • 唉.......香港

  • Thank you for posting. I am definitely touched. Even though preserving old achitectures seems almost hopeless in HK (one would think there'll be plenty of financial resources if the government has any vision), it's wonderful to see the little bit that's done. What kind of a world class city it is if there isn't any respect to history?!

  • 香港歷史照片太好了!!

    謝謝 post

  • See my blog below chum.

  • I went back to HK in 2007 at Christmas. I found that Murray building, and its ghosts, had been re-erected in Stanley. Land has been reclaimed near the Smugglers Inn Pub and there is was. It is now a restaurant and bar with shopping facilities, quite expensive too.

At least its back after all these years.

  • Murray Building has been known to be VERY haunted when it was situated in its original location. During the Japanese invasion of HK, a lot of people was killed outside the building. Since it was moved to Stanley, there has not been any more haunting stories. A lot of restaurants are in there now, the one I liked was Chilli and Spice.

  • building or builiding???
