Song from the California Convention of Sacred Harp - Shape Note singing on January 17, 2009 in San Carlos, CA. From fasolo.org: Sacred Harp singings are not performances. There are no rehearsals and no separate seats for an audience. Every singing is a unique and self-sufficient event with a different group of assembled participants. Sacred Harp is a uniquely American tradition that brings communities together to sing four-part hymns and anthems. It is a proudly inclusive and democratic part of our shared cultural heritage.
I thought it was something to do with the singers' hand movements and then realized they were just keeping tempo. D'oh. I think having different shapes for the notes in the score could be very helpful - and the result is very nice. Your camera work and resulting video - both image and sound - was impressive especially as it seems it was done on your Canon (stills camera !?!)

Thank you for the feedback and the information. It was a wonderful session and as a new harpsinger I was absolutely thrilled to be there.
