To elaborate on my reply below. It comes down to performance style. If I were to do 10-20 minutes of card tricks, I avoid anything that looks fancy or skillfull for the first half. The moment I do something that looks 'practiced & skill' people become more watchfull & suspicious of the cards being in my hands which bugs me. Some magicians like that feeling so it really comes down to personal preference.
-fullbloodlion has a great 8 second clip as a video response to this clip, check it out.

Wuts the purpose of this card trick?

Most young magicians learn this because it looks hard & fancy & want to do it faster than thier friends. If Joe spends 25 hrs perfecting this cut, while Betty spends 25 hrs perfecting a natural false shuffle or a natural DB, then people who watch Joe feels like they are being tricked by skill :( & people who watch Betty may feel like they are seeing 'Magic' happen : )
However, The cut in this clip does have a powerful secret which I will pm you about, that is well worth learning....

Just a couple of things. The packet that is in your left hand at the end of the cut (the one on top of the other one) isn't supposed to be held by the corners. It is supposed to be be held by the long edges at one end.
Also, when you separate the packets into Z grip at the beginning, it should be one smooth motion. All packets separated at the same time, not one at a time.
Other than that, good job. :D
