After being driven out of france the Kingdom of Aragon has been pushed back to Spain. The French foolishly march an against Aragon. The French have better Soldiers but Aragon have a far better position.

We are talking about diferent things.
A crown is a union of "states". Aragon was a Kingdom, a "state" diferent from the Catalan counties (condados) and the Kingdom of Valencia.
But all them were the CROWN (confederation) of Aragon. The Crown had the name of Aragon (and beacuse of the founders, Catalonia and Aragon, Aragon was the one with bigger range), but there was no dependance of it.

YOU are who should take a look at your notes dude... Aragón Crown... Almogávares used to say Aragón! Aragón! when they had to fight for them crown (they were from Cataluña and Aragón), Cataluña was not a kingdom nor a country. It was just a part of Aragon Crown and everyone who can see hitoric documents know it

So, maybe you should look at your notes again. Catalonia never was part of the Kingdom of Aragon.
The Principalty of Catalonia and the Kingdom of Aragon formed the CATALANO-ARAGONESE CROWN aka CROWN OF ARAGON.

Technically, it's the Kingdom of Aragon, which includes the County of Barcelona. Catalonia is a geographical region, like Occitania, Gascogne or Andalusia. The Principality of Catalonia was never a true Principality, since no king of Aragon was intitled Prince of Catalonia. Jaume I had the chance to become King of Catalonia, but he refused because many nobles, as powerful counts of Urgell and Empúries, which were not vassals of Aragon, just allies and relatives, probably wouldn't have liked it.
