This is a custom built module by nailbender on CPF. Has the exotic Nichia NCSU033A UAP5M bin which is excellent for curing Norland optical adhesives

  • Do you know if the 365nm nichia flashlight on amazon is any good? It's selling for $55.

  • @Xenokiller2179 I haven't had any experience with it so I couldn't tell you for sure. The wavelength is the same, so I would assume it to have the same ability to reveal stains but with 5X5mm LEDS, It couldn't compete with the output of the Nichia NCSU033A UAP5M bin. I also kind-of doubt it would be strong enough to cure optical adhesives like Norland 61, but maybe with enough time, it could be done.

  • @hugo2x Thanks for the quick response. I just need something that'll detect fluids. Is it cheap/practical to build your own uv flashlight ($100 or less)?

  • @Xenokiller2179 I think the light from Amazon would be enough, to build this light it cost around $140. the LED chip alone is $80, if you can find one.

  • @nhuynh218 You're asking the wrong person. You want hugo2x

  • @Xenokiller2179 Could you please email me at nick218@email.com. I have a few questions I was hoping you could answer for me.

  • @Xenokiller2179 Hi I wanted to ask you a more indepth question concerning your UV light. Could you please email me at nick218@email.com. Thanks.

  • @ArcolaBridge I don't really know much about surefire brand p60 drop-ins. but two fresh rechargeable cr123's put out about 8.4v in comparison to 6.0v for primaries. It would likely blow a SF brand drop in but many aftermarket p60 drop-ins will except the higher voltage range. As far as output is concerned, the SF 6PL is pretty weak.

  • Can I use LI Ion rechargeable 123's in my sure fire defender? It takes two, so I'm wondering what you know about that, I've come across massive articles on it and wonder what you now about it. If I can use rechargeable 123's what brand is preferred? Does mah make a big diff?

  • @hugo2x Ok, interesting. Is there a way of telling what a stain is? Besides the shape of it? Like different colors?
