DUO Made, When they first met in january 1996, I made agus wardana and gabriel Laufer organised ''jam sessions'' at the Conservatory of music Brussels. Made agus wardana uses the sound of marimba and vibraphone to compose music in Bali-style. The bass-marimba reminds him the sound of JEGOG, the medium sounds like the GAMBANG or the JOGED and the vibraphone can be compared to the PEMADE/KANTILAN that are the traditional balinese mallet instruments made of bamboo, wood or bronze. The Duo MADE elaborates a new technique concerning the dampening of metallic bars of the vibraphone which demand great skills. The pieces are commposed in slendro and pelog (pentatonic scales) but chromatic instruments allow modulations and further development of harmony.
