Big Lip Blues -- Vancouver Hot Five with Hans Erwig 1999
In 1999 my brother Hans came to visit us in British Columbia's Lower Mainland . Hans is a retired engineer and traditional jazz clarinet player. I organized an evening of him playing with my Vancouver Hot Five.
I also had my minidisc recorder set up coupled to a few mikes and a small mixing board and recorded the evenings results.
These tunes ended up in my iTunes computer library for almost 9 years and when I was walking along Lake Okanagan this morning I listened to them again on my iPod and decided to bring some of these these back via my new youtube audio chapter with added pictures.
We had several guests. Next to the regular members Lloyd Arntzen on clarinet, Bill Dixon banjo and Steve Toren on tuba, our guests were first of all my brother Hans Erwig from Bowness on Windermere in the Lake District in the UK, but also Dr. Roland Romain Fischer originally from Switzerland on piano and my trombonist from another band, Dave Griggs. Yes and I play the cornet
Bob Erwig
p.s Hans plays on a regular basis in and around the Lake district. He and his wife Rachel run a comfortable bed and breakfast and he loves to receive jazz lovers. So if you plan a visit to that beautiful part of the UK email Hans and Rachel Erwig.
