Simulation of the conjunction coming up in December of Jupiter, Venus and the Moon. The first time the trio came together in late jan/early feb 2008, however, we were clouded out all but one day. Maybe this time we will have better luck. The brighter "star" is venus, the dimmer "star" represents Jupiter. The moon will be a very thin crescent. The simulation runs from 20 November-5 December, just after sunset. The direction will be toward the southwest(from a mid northern latitude perspective). Venus and Jupiter are closest on 30 November. The 3 way conjunction is on 1 December 2008. Simulation best seen on full screen mode.

Check out the responses and compare how the conjunction appeared in different parts of the world. In wisconsin, a frowny face appeared(probably because of the 20 below zero windchill), while in the phillipines and australia they had a "happy face"(because of the warm weather no doubt).

If you get any actual pics/vids of this event feel free to post a video response.

spaceweather.com devoted an entire gallery to the event @ http://www.spaceweather.com/conjunctions/gallery_01dec08.htm
