OH MY GOODNESS my friends and i were pretending to be superheros RIGHT where they are standing! lol we got mad cuz we didnt know they were in the basement doing autographs. we were like "well, we could go down there and just look around but, it looks crowded-lets stay up here" and we got really mad later cuz someone else in our group met them :(

It's totally "is".
Starfield is singular.
Thus, 'is.'
If you wanted to use 'are', you'd have to say something like "The members of Starfield are great."

I would say it depends on the context of utterance.
If the speaker has in mind the players of Starfield in mind, then "Starfield are great" would be the right one, and it would sound correct at the time anyway.
If you have in mind Starfield as one "body", one "team", then you'd say "Starfield is great".
I don't think there's a definite answer.

It's great to see a band as big as you all still helping out with most of the aspects of each show. You guys have truly been a blessing to me and I'm sure countless others you've met along the way. Keep on spreading God's love! =)
