Ever notice how larger objects (like Brazil nuts) end up at the top of your cereal packet!? Physics can explain this. More at http://www.sixtysymbols.com/

I love that everyone loves pointing out the m/s mistake. Trust me, he knows what the units for acceleration are. It doesn't make you look any smarter by correcting a misspoken word, it just makes you look like a asshole.

Would have been great having a teacher like this when I was in school! So, next time I receive a package in the mail, filled with a few small items I ordered, plus massive amounts of those crazy-making Styrofoam "peanuts" - all I need to do is shake the box and all the items I purchased will come to the top? I will experiment first chance I get. Oh yeah, and when we were kids and prizes came in boxes of cereal and Cracker Jacks, we wouldn't have had to dig through or dump the contents?! ;)

meters pr second is not the unit for acceleration! It's for velocity.

Why do the led pellets form stripes? and why do the aluminum pieces come together? Does their density make them react to the shaking similarly?
