This is just a beautiful piece all around. Gibbons was a genius with arrangements, apart from being a virtuoso at the piano. And the voice....oh, the voice. This piece and Gibbons others from this era, with Lenner singing, compare very favorably to the best that was coming from the states in this era...1938-41 or so. It's a shame that Gib, producing records in England, didn't get more exposure then.

From the first time that I heard this song so many years ago, I loved it, and have never heard it done as well as this version Thank you so much for the posting. I think that the English dance bands were the absolute best, and I'm a yank. Anne's voice is just wonderful. I play this piece every day.

Listening to this, I can almost feel the warmth of a distant summer day. If you like this, now go to "Dreaming" by Al Bowlly- same year, same music, but a completely different lyric, though just as moving as Anne Lenners version. Which do you prefer? I cant decide
