  • In this video I have a 1920 Wilfer, my main instrument (German). Here I think I am using Kolstein Heritage strings, but they might be Pirastro Evah Parazzis. Im now using Velvet Animas....constant search for the perfect tone and feel!

  • Tone, technique, taste, intonation: great!

  • @simonlah Thanks, simoniah! Sorry I have to screen comments, so it took a minute for yours to show up...have too many people posting viral videos and ads on my pages. Thanks for listening!

  • what were you using to record with?

  • @hanaad95 was using a Mac laptop at this point. I acquired a camcorder since, so most recent videos and future videos should be better quality, though youtube still compresses the audio and video down...

  • Do you have the String Bass Music Sheet for this?

  • it's all improvised, my friend...you can find the lead sheet in one of the Chuck Sher real books, but I always recommend learning standards like these by ear, if possible and then doublechecking your changes/melody with the sheet music

  • Beautyful!

    Best Regards from Germany

  • man you are so good. So it's all improvised? That's fantastic! Mind if I steal some of your ideas? I got a jazz combo gig coming up and I'm soloing on this song.

  • Sounds great - what bass and strings are you using? Thanks for posting..

  • Solid playing Thomson, from one of your former students, I dig it.

  • Shreddin' dude.

  • I want to start by saying you sound great. You have great musicality. I would like to raise one concern. Your stance (more side than approaching from back right corner) means that when you are in the lower register your wrist is at a more severe angle than necessary. You run the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome... keep playing, just do so in front of a mirror to see the angle of your wrist and try to correct it. Again, I like this rendition.
