US warns Kenya over reforms

Its very unfortunate that a country such as Kenya has to be reminded of how urgently it needs reforms. A good number of our leaders save for president Mwai Kibaki who is now famous for his silent status as a leader of a nation have tried to secure attention from US president Barrack Obama who has so far proved a hard nut to crack especially to the Kenyan lot who have featured in his bad books prominently on different occasions. Even our very own Prime Minister Raila Odinga who shares the same tribe with Obama's father has had quite an uphill task in securing the hard to come by moment. The US has now acted to show its position on Kenyan reforms and this time targeting cabinet ministers and some members of parliament who are said to be anti- reforms.

Mexicans brace for fresh Swine Flu outbreak

The next wave of swine flu has arrived, and Mexicans are bracing for an outbreak that may be even larger than the one here last spring that became a pandemic. Daily diagnoses reached higher levels in September than the H1N1 peak in April, with 483 new cases in just one day this month alone. It's unlikely there will be large-scale closings of schools and stadiums, because health officials now know the virus is usually mild if treated early. When the first cases of swine flu were confirmed in late April, Mexico's government immediately ordered the closure of all schools, museums, libraries and theaters in the capital. Within days, schools nationwide, restaurant dining rooms and other businesses shut down, streets mostly emptied and soldiers handed out millions of face masks. Mexico could see up to 5 million cases of swine flu during this winter's flu season and deaths could reach over 2,000. Mexico had 29,417 reported cases and 226 deaths as of Friday.

Moroccan King condemns Jewish visit to Al Aqsa mosque on Yom Kippur

King Mohammed VI of Morocco has strongly condemned the offensive aggressions against the sentiments of the Muslims by the extremist Jews who chose to celebrate their holy day Yom Kippur by provoking Palestinians and All Muslims in the world when they entered Al-Aqsa Mosque with the Israeli soldiers help. The King also expressed his rejection of the violent aggressions against Palestinians by the Israeli soldiers and considers these acts irresponsible and helpless to the peace process in the region. Morocco insists on the need for the UN Security Council to put an end to the Israeli violation and to find a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
