@humungonormus You posted awhile ago but it's the patriot vintage. I played one today and almost bought it but settled on the custom. Seaford Music in Delaware has one left. It kicks butt!
I have a Patriot Vintage with PAF's for mellow solos and a Patriot Limited with Rockfield SWC's for the juice. I sold my LP Gold Top and SG after buying these. Now have $3000 in the bank and two awesome guitars. I know there's some mystique to having the "brand" but these guitars are so well made and sound so good, I could never justify the difference. I've converted 5 other slingers after they played mine. It's sure nice to find something that actually provides value with reasonable cost!
@CADEBRYANT my dad owned a les paul standard traded it in for an ibanez and then when i wanted to get a really good guitar i saw the micheal kelly had my dad mess with i played for a little while and after my dad played it he said it is just as good as a les paul but with the les paul you are really paying for the name
After trying out (and purchasing) a MKP Custom, I sold my Gibson Les Paul Studio. Although it can be acquired for only $500, it feels and plays better than nearly any other guitar I have tried (regardless of price). The action of the ebony fretboard is amazing. In my opinion, it totally rules over the Les Paul Studio, the PRS SE, and anything made by Epiphone......and comes close to the hallowed ground of the high-end and classic Gibsons costing several times as much.
I find it funny that an average Micheal Kelly plays as good as a high end gibson...Okay, you may need to change the pickups, but the guitar itself is genius!
yeah they are totaly worth the money but may need to change the p-ups to get the sound ya want. luckly mine came with rockfield fat asses in the bridge and the neck and they are great all around pickups. it is heavy tho as in the guitar its self if that isnt a prob and ya want a good les paul style guitar but dont wanna spend 3000 on a decent gibson get ya a patriot in the 500 dollar range and ya wont be dissapointed i wouldnt trade mine for two 1500 gibson les pauls.

@MrJackanthony
Definitely get the premium. The quilt top look amazing and a lot of people (your audience) like the sound of EMGs'.

very nice guitar but i would change the pickups to SD or EMG actives as they will give you a much better low-end and clear highs and warm mids
